learning about "Things that go and Why?""What Grows Bro?" Our teachers learnt about "Things that go and Why?""What Grows?" this week

This week we watched a video with Bill Nye the science guy and he helped us learn a little about Plants, Bill taught us about a few big words Photosynthesis, we now know that Photosynthesis is what happens to the carbon dioxide, using water and sunlight. this is what helps our plants to grow.
We also learnt that Plants breath in carbon dioxide, which is what they need to live and turn it into oxygen which is humans need to live and turn it into carbon dioxide.
we put it in a diagram which looks like this....

In week one we planted a broad bean plant it has been germinating - this is where the plant begins to sprout from the soil.

Firetruck Visit!!!
How much fun was it having the Firefighters visiting us today!! I learned so many new interesting facts about the fire engines and the jobs the fire fighters do. I didn't know that there were two different fire trucks- one for country fires and one for building fires!!! Did anybody else learn something new?? I would love for you to share.....

This is the place to come to view what the Grade 1/2's have been doing in Numeracy this term...
This week in Numeracy, we looked at measurement we talked about centimetres (and centimeters can be written as cm) and metres (m) we looked at things we could measure with our 30 cm ruler, our 100cm ruler which equals to one meter and we looked at informal (a big word but we learnt it) measurement and we used things like pencils, MAB, unifix, feet and hands to measure things in our rooms. Jack measured Vicky and found she was 16 MAB(tens) tall. We also used rulers to see how far away the toilets are from our classroom, some of us used big meter rulers and s0me of use used 30cm rulers, we learnt that using the meter ruler is faster...
